Tiny dynamo Sasha McCandless returns in the acclaimed follow-up to Irreparable Harm in this USA Today bestselling series.

It was supposed to be a routine discovery motion. It wasn't.

When Sasha travels to rural Clear Brook County for a discovery argument, the judge appoints her counsel to an angry senior citizen facing a competency hearing. Then she's attacked by a group of environmental activists who mistake her for an oil and gas industry executive. She quickly learns the community is bitterly divided over the issue of hydrofracking the Marcellus Shale and mistrustful of outsiders.

She's eager for her appointment to end so she can leave for good. Then the town's only judge is murdered, and she can't walk away.

As she races to find the killer against a backdrop of small town secrets, back room deals, and corruption, the town threatens to fracture beyond repair.

At the end of book one of the series (IRREPARABLE HARM), Sasha decides not to take the promotion at huge law firm. Instead, she decides to open her own law firm. She is also involved in a new relationship with Leo Connelly (the Air Marshall she met in book one).

At the beginning of the book, Sasha has to go to Clear Brook County Courthouse in Springport, PA to argue a discovery motion in front of Judge Paulson. After winning her argument, she is packing up her files to leave when an old man enters the court. He is obviously angry and swears & shouts at the judge, waving a fist full of papers at him. As it turns out, he is due to have a incapacitation hearing before the judge -- and he cannot afford an attorney. The judge appoints Sasha as Jed Craybill's attorney for the hearing. As she lives four hours away and has her own work to do, she tries to get out of the case but cannot. And, that is not the worst news -- the hearing is in one hour!

This is just the beginning! The town of Springport is divided between those in favor of "hydrofracking" and those who are not (hydrofracking: Hydraulic fracturing (also fraccing, fracking, hydrofracturing or hydrofracking) is a well-stimulation technique in which rock is fractured by a pressurized liquid).

Sasha spends most of this book in Springport, PA after the judge is murdered and she is appointed as a Special Prosecutor to investigate that murder (the reason being that a local lawyer might be involved in the murder and she was an "outsider"). She also has Jeb's case to work on.

This is the second book of the SASHA MCCANDLESS LEGAL THRILLER series. Ms. Miller has done a wonderful job with the series. The main characters are likeable and the story line moves along smoothly. There are enough twists and turns to keep the reader entertained. The new characters (for this book) are interesting and you cannot wait to figure out who the real "bad guys" are.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I highly recommend this series! I have bought the series (9 books) and novellas (3 books) and look forward to reading them all!

Inadvertent Disclosure Sasha McCandless Legal Thriller Book 2 edition by Melissa F Miller Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews

The first Sasha McCandless legal thriller was being offered for free, so I took a chance on it and loved it. I had ordered this book before even finishing the first one. As a reader, you can never be sure what you're going to encounter when you take a chance on a series. Sometimes the first book is an anomaly that draws you in, only to find that the subsequent books fail to impress.
This is definitely not the case with this series thus far.
Inadvertent Disclosure is as sharp and engaging as the first book. The story held my attention, indeed again I was barely able to put it down once I started reading.
I like that the book, while referencing things from the first, could stand alone. It was great to see how Sasha was handling the changes in her life since the first book.
This leads me to my biggest point of praise for these books. Anybody who has read my reviews knows that I detest when romance and mystery/thrillers are combined. To me, it is extremely rare when this mixture of genres works.
I can state, unequivocally, that Melissa F. Miller has the extraordinary ability to successfully mix these two themes and have neither suffer for it. Indeed, each element actually makes the other stronger...which to me is astounding.

I can't wait to read the next installment of this series.
I enjoy Miller's Mccandless series - they are well written and gripping. There are, however, the occasional jarring note that distracts - two examples
1) It is unrealistic for someone to lose absolutely everything if they default on a loan. We are given the impression (no spoiler - first page!) that a family loses old clothes, scraps of paper, half a bottle of jam in the fridge kind of thing when the receiver's turn up.
2) When someone is repeatedly and forcefully hit with a crowbar, they usually sustain injuries worse than a sprained wrist and mild concussion.
And, as usual, there is a flurry of explanations and wrap ups at the end that feel rushed.

OK, that's the negatives out of the way!
On the positive note, the plot is well good with twists that keep the reader engaged. The characters are well defined and we always have a good sense of place. Miller's descriptions are spot-on.
An absorbing and enjoyable read.
I read this novel as a stand alone, not having read the first book of the series. That fact was no impediment in enjoying this installment at all; there are no linkages to the first novel as far as the plot is concerned.

The plot itself is suspenseful, though by the time the reader is at about 80%, the story becomes predictable. The character development is good; despite the fact that I had not read the first installment of the series where the protagonist (Sasha) would have most likely been introduced even more thoroughly, the 356 pages of this book was sufficient to "know" the traits of Sasha's character.

The intrigue and excitement are enough to make one keep turning the page. Impressive work from a new author.
